Whilst the European, and North American winter seasons are drawing to a close, the southern hemisphere are gearing up for the start of theirs! Amongst those deep in preparation is Mt Buller, Australia.

Mt Buller is a picturesque ski in ski out resort, within the Victoria region of Australia. It is home to Victoria’s largest lift network at 22 lifts, including thirteen chairlifts, four T-bars, two rope tows and four magic carpets. The resort features three Terrain Parks designed for all skill levels, with a dedicated snow grooming team to maintain their condition.

The ski resort offers skiing and snowboarding for both beginners, and experts alike. With the wide groomed pistes of Bourke St and Burnt Hut Spur, those arcing their first turns have plenty to try. Even the most ardent amongst us will appreciate the more challenging slopes like Chamois! Mt Buller has an abundance to offer both on and off the slopes.

In preparation for the upcoming season Mt Buller are constructing the new Bourke Street Express! A brand new 6 seater chairlift, moving guests quickly out of the village to Baldy in just over 2 minutes.

The Snow Express 100 snow machine is being tested out, producing it’s first snow of the year! The super-cooled particles can be made at any ambient temperature and are specially suited to building a great snowbase on the ski runs.  The snowmaking team will work around the clock between now and opening weekend to stockpile plenty of snow that will get Bourke Street and the snowplay park in the Village ready for opening weekend sliding!

Anyone looking to visit Mt Buller this season check out their website to book your holiday or just to keep up to date on the latest lift developments! With a 6 day advance lift pass starting from just $287 ASD (around £154).

Train Travel to the alps vs Plane Travel

Short haul flying is rarely a joyous experience and, like many people, I’m increasingly conscious of my carbon footprint. For my January and February trips to the mountains I decided to mix things up a little to compare plane travel with the train.
