At 800m in length, and a vertical drop of 114m, this brand new artificial ski slope in Kopaonik, Serbia is the largest of it’s kind across Europe. It’s predecessor, Midlothian Ski Centre in Scotland, previously held the title with a slope length of 400m. At double that size the Kopaonik slope is truly in a league of it’s own.

You may wonder why a ski resort serviced by 23 lifts , 55 km of pistes and a plentiful snow record throughout the winter months would be creating a slope, more common place in ‘non-alpine nations’. The idea is to provide the nations’ skiers and snowboarders a year round facility when the snow has melted away in the warmer months.

The design of the the slope is quite unique in artificial slope terms. A dedicated four seater chairlift services the slope, which itself runs directly into the resort centre. This is turn allows skiers and snowboarders alike to utilise the bars and restaurants during the summer months. The piste has been been created with Neveplast, a product used throughout the world to simulate the feel of a hard pack groomed piste closely.
