Unique opportunity to learn ski jumping with the legend Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards at The Calgary Olympic Park this winter and enjoy a week’s skiing with him at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards will return to the scene of his 1988 Winter Olympic ski jumping debut this winter and offer his coaching services to a group of skiers following a week’s skiing in Kicking Horse.

The trip, open to anyone who can ski confidently on red runs, combines a ski holiday accompanied by Eddie Edwards and based in an on mountain lodge at one of Canada’s top ski resorts with the chance to tackle a ski jump in Calgary where Eddie cemented his name as ‘The Eagle’ back at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.

It’s the first time members of the public have had the chance to ski jump with Eddie in Calgary and the group will enjoy the services and advise from the legend himself as well as professional coaches from the Calgary Olympic Park, that will be on-hand to ensure everyone’s safety is a priority.

The week in Kicking Horse will include 6 days of in-resort skiing, accompanied by Eddie and a guide from Kicking Horse Powder Tours, the British company organising the holiday. There’s also be a hosted dinner with Eddie during the week as well some local events put on for the celebrity visit – Eddie is just as famous in Canada as he is in the UK.

Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards said:

I went to Kicking Horse last winter for the first time and absolutely loved it. I’m looking forward to going back – now I’ve also got the chance to introduce some more people to ski jumping too. It will be a fun packed week full of some great skiing and good laughs.

Owner of Kicking Horse Powder Tours and organiser of the holiday, Richard Barker, said:

I had the chance to ski with Eddie in Kicking Horse last winter and we had a great time both on and off-piste, we had some fantastic skiing and he was fun to have around. We thought it would be a great idea to offer a holiday here where people could combine a week’s skiing with a day at the Calgary ski jump before flying home again.

Dates: March 10, 2018

Cost: £3,295 per person, including, return flights from London to Calgary, 7 nights accommodation in a luxury lodge including breakfast, one VIP entrance to a Canadian themed hosted dinner, welcome drinks evening, ski passes, snowmobile evening with Eddie, return airport transfers, all other transportation required, planned local events with Eddie, 6 days guided skiing around Kicking Horse with Eddie and the Kicking Horse Powder Tours team.
Prices based on double/twin occupancy, heliskiing day optional extra.

Skiing standard: minimum standard confident on red runs and capable of skiing black runs, some off-piste skiing experience would be helpful.

About Kicking Horse Resort

One of Canada’s premier ski and snowboard resorts, Kicking Horse offers terrain for all levels right from complete beginners to experts in search of steep and deep thrills often only found in remote locations accessed by helicopter or ski touring.

With the fourth highest vertical drop in the whole of North America (1,260 metres) and 2,800 acres of lift serviced terrain it really lives up to its reputation as a world class resort – but the slopes are rarely crowded, mainly due to its remote location in Eastern British Columbia, close to the town of Golden and around four hours’ drive from Calgary.

It has been announced that Kicking Horse will host the second leg of the World Freeride Tour in 2018 – the first time the top tier of the competition has been held in Canada. Dates are February 3-9.
